Found on Dunham Road in one of the more scenic parts of Altrincham, just yards from Denzell Gardens and the Dunham Forest Golf and Country Club, the Vegetarian Society Cookery School is where all clued-in Northerners looking to boost their plant-based cooking skills flock to.

And it’s not just people from the North West who rate it, they have a global appeal, with many chefs from all over the world heading to their kitchens to learn more about environmentally friendly cuisine and how to prepare it at the very highest level.

Whether you’re a longstanding vegan, or merely if you’re starting to get curious, the Vegetarian Society Cookery School is the perfect place to start your journey

These classes are suitable for all-comers, from those with little to no knowledge of cooking to those looking for some extra flourishes to dazzle their dinner guests with. And there are professional classes too, catering to everyone from the fresh-faced kitchen porter to the battle-hardened chef with decades of experience. The school itself is run by Sam Platt, who has worked at every level of the food industry over the past 15 years, along with 12 expert tutors, with plenty of top chefs among them.

Vegetarian and vegan food is becoming more popular with each passing year, so it’s fair to say these skills will be increasing in demand for the foreseeable future. The school even offers free courses to community groups and individuals who might not otherwise come across this kind of activity – the school can be seen as a public service, not just to the environment but to the people who need this the most.

A hub for all things plant-based

The school is a hub for all things plant-based, including a wealth of recipes, a shop packed with goods designed to tackle climate change, and plenty of information about everything related to vegan and vegetarian cuisine, looking at the health benefits as well as podcasts and even tips on how to turn your pet veggie.

Whether you’re a longstanding vegan, or merely if you’re starting to get curious about it all, as many people are, the Vegetarian Society Cookery School is the perfect place to start your journey. The environment will thank you for it.
