Treehouse Manchester

Ian Jones, Food and Drink Editor

A Treehouse hotel is coming to Manchester, featuring a rooftop bar that offers stunning views of the city. The hotel will have 216 rooms and be located at the space previously occupied by the unmissed Renaissance Hotel down Deansgate. The developers’ goal is to make guests feel like they are in their own ‘secret forest’ and if our visit to Treehouse London is anything to go by, the people of Manchester are in safe hands.

The fourteenth-floor restaurant will offer diners a menu of inspired South East Asian dishes cleverly combined with British produce

However, hold onto your hats, it won’t be taking root until some time in early 2025 – but stay tuned as it’s set to transform the food and drink landscape of the city for the better, as well as the skyline. The hotel will be collaborating with some of the best hospitality talent the North West has to offer, with three unique dining and drinking experiences.

The ground-floor restaurant will serve a zero-waste menu with a ‘modern twist on traditional cooking’, under the guidance of Mary-Ellen McTague of The Creameries and Eat Well MCR. The fourteenth-floor restaurant will offer diners a menu of inspired South East Asian dishes cleverly combined with British produce, headed up by the excellent Sam Grainger, famed for Liverpool restaurant Belzan.

And of course, Luke Cowdrey and Justin Crawford, legendary DJs and food and drink curators par excellence (see Volta, Refuge, among others), will be playing a major part, running things at the rooftop bar as well as the ground floor restaurant.

On our visit to Treehouse London, we saw a glimpse of what to expect, with a short stay in one of the stunning hotel rooms with awe-inspiring views over Marylebone (no, I don’t know how to pronounce it either), plus a day of endless eating and drinking, all on your behalf. Below are some photos of the trip, and while Treehouse Manchester will be more in tune with the feel and rhythms of our great city, it’ll certainly give you an idea of what to expect.
