If you’re after an independent hotel with a great location that won’t break the budget, look no further than The Waverley Hotel in the centre of Crewe.

The Waverley Hotel is just a short walk from Crewe Station and easily accessible by car from junction 16 and 17 of the M6 motorway, with free on-site parking for guests. It really is location, location, location, as the hotel is a short stroll from the many pubs and restaurants on Nantwich Road, as well as walking distance from the town centre and Lyceum Theatre. It’s also a good bet if you’re visiting Crewe to watch the Railwaymen play at Gresty Road; The Waverley is just a six minute walk from Alexandra Stadium.

Despite its close proximity to all of Crewe’s main attractions, The Waverley is generally a peaceful place to stay, set in a quiet back road away from too much noise. This family-run hotel and restaurant has 21 bedrooms with a variety of options from solo travellers to larger families. Single rooms start at £52 for bed and breakfast with double rooms priced at £65 Monday to Thursday and just £59 at the weekend. There’s also a spacious family room that sleeps up to four people (£110 per night B&B) and a triple room that sleeps up to three people (£95 per night). If self-catering is your style, The Waverley has a couple of two-bed apartments on the books that feature a kitchenette including a microwave, fridge and dining area, priced at £110 per night, room only.

Standard rooms are unfussy but clean, with comfortable beds and all the usual mod-cons including an en-suite shower room, television, tea and coffee making facilities and free WiFi. A generous-sized breakfast is included and served in the downstairs restaurant. In the grounds of the hotel is a cosy, outside seating area where you can enjoy a drink and a small, but welcome, selection of bar snacks.

A short drive will take you into the picturesque Cheshire countryside and the historic town of Nantwich. It’s also an ideal base for exploring the nearby attractions of Trentham Gardens, Snugbury’s Ice Cream and Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker.
