The Unicorn in Skipton

Carmel Smickersgill, Tours & Activities Editor
The Unicorn

Located centrally, just minutes from the high street, is The Unicorn, a family run BnB with more charm and character than a happy farmer. It is a perfect place to stay whether you’re travelling for business or pleasure. They have a range of rooms that cater for families, dogs, couples and more as well as free access to wifi and a hearty breakfast included.

As one of the oldest hotels in Skipton, The Unicorn wants every guest to have an enjoyable stay and go out of their way to accommodate people’s preferences and needs. Although the rooms vary in size and capacity, each comes with chic furnishings alongside tea and coffee making facilities. Some rooms also have living areas with cosy sofas and flat screen TV’s so you can enjoy a quiet night in as much as a wild night out.

After what is sure to be an enjoyable night’s sleep you can look forward to a full english that is a step above your typical hotel breakfast. At The Unicorn, the breakfast components come from local producers and are always freshly prepared. You can expect expertly seasoned local sausages which make your typical hotel sausage look meatless in comparison. There is also a breakfast buffet available for those who aren’t keen on the full works. If you’re having a particularly slow start, there’s also an option to have breakfast in bed.

Getting to The Unicorn is easy whether you’re driving or not. The train station is a 10 minute walk away and there are frequent trains running between Skipton and Leeds. You can also easily walk to the local attractions with the high street on the doorstep, the canal just round the corner and Skipton castle just 6 minutes walk away. The castle itself is one of the best preserved medieval castles in the UK and well worth a visit while you’re in Skipton.
