The Merchant

The Merchant is a cool bar with a large garden, lots of outdoor seating and, perhaps most importantly, it’s the home of Nightcrawler Pizza.

It sits on the corner of Parr Street and Slater Street, making it the perfect spot to have a drink or two at the start of the night, or a quiet pint in the sun on a warm afternoon. Inside you’ll see long tables with benches, with the style being something close to ‘industrial but make it (a little) glam’. It’s chilled and not so loud that you can’t have a conversation. There is a great selection of beers, gins with all kinds of delicious accompaniments as well as cocktails served without too many bells and whistles. If you don’t want to fight your way through three tiny umbrellas and five different citrus slices to get to your drink, this is the place.

There are irregular DJ nights too, so check social media for more info.

Undeniably, Nightcrawler Pizza is a key draw, because drinks often require snacks and pizza is an excellent one. It’s a pretty likely scenario that you might pop in for a pint and stay for a slice.
