The Halyard (part of the IHG Hotels & Resorts family) is one of the newest additions to Liverpool‘s hotel scene, in a somewhat unusual but extremely convenient location of Duke Street. The 4-star boutique hotel is new and it looks it – even the building looks clean, standing tall amongst the older architecture of its surroundings. The glass-fronted ground floor reveals a lush bar area with tables interspersed with plants, making it a particularly pleasant place for a drink in the middle of the city.

Take a look at the room options and you’ll see why the building is so tall  – the most luxurious, top-floor suites offer views of Liverpool’s skyline and the Royal Albert Dock, which, particularly if you’ve not experienced the city before, is a treat. All suits also include private balcony, spacious living area, and some fancy toiletries from Temple Spa. There are 133 rooms and suites to choose from, all of which are beautifully decorated with stylish yet timeless motifs, and, of course, equipped with comfortable beds and powerful showers.

If you like to keep to your workout schedule even when you’re travelling, The Halyard has you covered. There is a fitness suite with a rooftop terrace, where you’ll find all of the usual gym equipment, as well as Peleton bikes and yoga classes.

Let’s talk about food too – Voyagers Restaurant and Bar is The Halyard’s offering, serving small plates designed to be shared. There is an admirable vegetarian selection alongside the usual meat and fish dishes, and because it’s all tapas-style, you can try a bit of everything. Of course, the bar is open for a late evening drink too, if you’d like one last glass of wine before heading up to bed.

Duke Street may not be a destination in itself, but it’s close to so much – from the best bars and clubs, to Bold Street’s restaurants and shops and it even leads down to Liverpool ONE. It may be new but it’s already got a reputation as one of Liverpool’s best hotels, so take a look at The Halyard’s offer.
