The Book Corner

Nestled neatly in the northwest corner of The Piece Hall is an independent and contemporary bookshop. The Book Corner stocks a handpicked and varied range of fiction and non-fiction. Book lovers of all ages will enjoy browsing the shelves for the latest best-sellers, popular page-turners and classic titles.

With an area specially dedicated to children’s books too, The Book Corner is popular with families. Head to the Bookworms area of the shop to find a wide range of books for little ones and also older children. From baby’s first board books to Young Adult fiction, there are many books just waiting to be discovered. With a world of imagination in their hands, youngsters will enjoy settling down in the cosy woodland reading corner with their favourite book. Additionally, friendly and knowledgeable staff are always on hand to advise or to help you choose the perfect gift for a young reader too.

The Book Corner regularly hosts events too – from book signing events, talks and discussions to children’s’ storytime sessions. The shop often works with Square Chapel Arts Centre to deliver poetry evenings and open mic nights. There is also a Young Adults Book Club for those aged 13+, taking place in the shop every six weeks.

Working in partnership with Grayston Unity, The Book Corner also presents Halifax’s annual Festival of Words every October. The literary festival takes place right across the town and features live music and DJ sets alongside spoken word events, readings and talks.

As well as stocking a wonderful a beautiful range of notebooks, stationery, cards and gifts, we love that the shop also offers a free next day ordering service for any books they haven’t got on their shelf. A winning literary gem and book-lovers paradise.
