If you’re after a truly unique experience in Blackpool, look no further than The Blackpool Tower Dungeon, which terrifies and entertains in equal measure.

With an exciting walkthrough experience, 10 live-action shows and a thrilling drop ride, you’ll get the chance to descend into the heart of the Dungeon and immerse yourself in stories of Lancashire’s ‘orrible past.

Along the way, you’ll meet some interesting characters; The Plague Doctor’s Assistant will advise you on the terrible diseases running rife, while The Torturer will definitely keep you on your toes. There might also be a few Pendle Witches lurking around too…

With a fantastic theatrical cast, special effects and interactive stages, this experience combines education and entertainment in style. Sure, it’s a little gruesome at times, but it’s seriously funny too.

As you learn about 1000 years of history, you’ll also take part in a special escape room experience with a killer twist. Using only your bravery, wit and instinct to survive, you’ll need to complete a series of activities and challenges to break free from your prison. Otherwise, you may well end up losing your head.

The highlight of The Blackpool Tower Dungeon is The Drop Dead Ride, where visitors are sent to the gallows for their crimes. This has a ‘faster than gravity’ drop, so make sure you’re prepared. The height restriction for this ride is 1.4 metres.

You’ll end your journey at The Red Lion Pub, which prides itself on being both dodgy and decadent. Guests are invited to pull up a bar stool and enjoy a drink or two, and rub shoulders with the likes of The Jester and the Skippool Smugglers.

The recommended age for The Dungeon is 12+. Under fives aren’t allowed for this one, as things might get a bit too scary for them (see The Gruffalo & Friends Clubhouse and Peter Rabbit™: Explore and Play for excellent alternatives). Children five and up can enter as long as they have permission from their parent or guardian.
