Take a trip to Temple Newsam, a country estate in the heart of Leeds. With a variety of attractions to keep the whole family entertained, the estate comprises of a Tudor Jacobean mansion house, working rare breed farm and rolling parkland.

The best way to explore the estate is on foot, taking in the stunning sights of the 1500 acres of Capability Brown landscaped gardens, woodland and park areas. Hit the nature trails, perfect for walking, cycling and horse riding. During the summertime take a picnic by the lakeside gardens or have some family fun in the adventure playground!

Why not discover more about the history of Temple Newsam in the grand and glorious surroundings of Temple Newsam House? Famous as the birth place of Lord Darnley, the notorious husband of Mary Queen of Scots, it’s been described as one of the best heritage properties in Britain. It is also home to one of the most important collections of decorative arts including an extensive silverware collection.

Over at Home Farm, visitors can get up close to their favourite farmyard friends in the historic cobbled streets. The farm is one of the largest working rare breed facilities in Europe with outbuildings dating back to the 17th century. Find out was life was like working on the estate and keep an eye out for family friendly events during the school holidays.

Don’t forget to grab a cuppa and some cake from Temple Newsam Tea Rooms during your visit. There’s plenty of pick from including locally sourced snacks and a vegetarian and vegan range. The shop is also stocked to the brim with gifts and toys to keep the tiny visitors entertained!
