Showroom Workstation

Sheffield’s premier arts centre, Showroom Workstation houses an established independent cinema along with an entrepreneurial hub for creative and digital industries. Film fans can expect the latest and greatest independent and arthouse releases alongside thoughtfully curated seasons of classic cinema.

With a rich and varied history, the art deco building originally opened as a car showroom in 1936 until the council acquired the building in 1983 and set about to transform it into a cinema. Hosting the first Sheffield Doc/Fest in 1994, the venue boasted four fully operational screens in 1998 and was voted the favourite independent cinema of Guardian readers in 2002. More recently Showroom celebrated its 25th anniversary and continues to screen the very best of independent, cult and world cinema.

Showroom Workstation is located right outside of Sheffield railway station, making it easy to pop along to one of the venue’s four screens.  There’s also a handy cafe/bar which is ideal for those who like to discuss the film over a few pints and a bite of food.

You’ll also find the Workstation connected to the Showroom cinema. Home to some of Sheffield’s most cultural, creative and digital businesses, the Workstation offers office, conference and meeting spaces.
