Riddles Bar

You’ll never forget a night at Riddles Bar in Altrincham. Just yards from the famous market, Riddles Bar describes itself as one of the cosiest bars in town and their gin tasting events are the stuff of legend.

Go on a journey through all the different wild and wonderful types of gin, including many you won’t have heard of but can’t wait to track down

Whether you’re a juniper berry aficionado or simply curious about learning more about ‘mother’s ruin’ (those days are long gone, modern gin is a world away from the bad press it got in the 18th century), these events are a must. Hosted by local gin expert Dave Marsland, they take you on a journey through all the different wild and wonderful types of gin, including many you won’t have heard of but can’t wait to track down.

The atmosphere at these sessions is second to none, all relaxing candlelight and full of upbeat likeminded gin-lovers. Then the tasting begins and you’re treated to a range of gins, paired with beautiful and unexpected mixers, with a captivating description of its origins and how best to use it. You’ll come out of these tasting sessions with a whole new perspective on this fascinating spirit.

Take your gin knowledge to new heights with these tastings, and come out armed with the knowledge on how to prepare some of the world’s most memorable, lip-smacking cocktails

In fact, these evenings have been so popular Riddles Bar are looking at hosting tasting events for bourbons, whiskies and rum. Keep an eye on their website and social media channels for the latest news on these.

Until then, take your gin knowledge to new heights with these tastings, and come out armed with the knowledge on how to prepare some of the most memorable, lip-smacking cocktails this side of a classic James Bond film.
