Press Bros

If you can get good coffee pretty much anywhere in Liverpool, then you can certainly get it on Lark Lane. Boasting out-of-the-door queues on weekend mornings, and drawing in crowds with the scent of freshly ground beans, Press Bros is an independent coffee shop that actually began as a coffee van and specialises in a range of caffeinated beverages, from the traditional cup of black coffee to silky flat whites and espresso martinis all made using locally roasted coffee. They’ve recently made their first forays into roasting the beans themselves too, so Press Bros is a local business to watch.

As well as coffee, there’s a whole menu of delicious treats to look forward to, and some fresh pastries on the counter (cinnamon buns, anyone?). For breakfast lovers, there are the patty melts – a bit like burgers but a bit more varied, with sausage or veggie patties and other layers of flavour on top. You’ll also find some brunch classics, like avocado on toast, bagels, French toast or granola. The menu generally sways more towards the savoury than sweet. Until you get to the hot drinks part, that is. Alongside all of the coffees, from the traditional americano to a V60 filter, you have a choice of hot chocolates with wild flavours like Ferrero Rocher or Bueno, for those of us who have a real sweet tooth.

Press Bros is located on the “park end” of Lark Lane, meaning the park is a 2-minute walk away. In good weather, we recommend grabbing a drink and heading back out for some fresh air as the shop can get busy and a little cramped. Doesn’t coffee taste better outside anyway?

It’s worth mentioning too that Press Bros also sell their coffee and caffeinated cocktails in the Baltic Market if you can’t make it to the Lark Lane shop.
