Over Under Deansgate

Over Under

Coffee or cocktails? An inner turmoil for many (least of all me who always plumps for the latter), but it really needn’t be.

How, you ask? Well just as luck would have it, London’s Over Under has just set up shop in Manchester and it can’t wait to party over pancakes with you.

An unassuming hole in the wall at first glance, you can find Over Under on Deansgate, a figurative stone’s throw away from Spinningfields. The shop itself is modern yet homely, contemporary with an innovative flair – and it doesn’t stop at the decor. I arrived at 5 pm, just in time for the flip; where the coffee machine is put to bed, large coffee menus which adorn the walls are flipped to reveal an opulent array of potions (read: alcohol), and changing furnishings allow for an even more indulgent session than the toasted Rubens which preceded it.

London’s Over Under has just set up shop in Manchester and it can’t wait to party over pancakes with you.

From here on out, Over Under dim the lights and turn up the entertainment a notch, and even boast a live DJ set at the weekends.

During the week you can enjoy four exclusively-concocted happy hour cocktails, Lady Marmalade was a personal favourite, however I can promise that each one is as good as the last (I did the legwork, you’re welcome – hic!) Accompany it with nibbles, just make sure you return for their full menu in the AM.

The geniuses behind this metamorphosing brunch-come-bar joint are every bit as lovely as the dishes, cuppa char and cocktails they serve. It’s worthy of a try for both early birds and night owls alike.
