Makers Markets host over 20 markets of artisanal local products every month. You can find them in Cheadle, Chester, Chorlton, Congleton, Creww, Bombed out Church (in Liverpool), Knutsford, Lymm, Northern Quarter, Preston, Quayside, Royal Albert Dock, Sale, Sandbach, Southport, Stockport, Trentham, Uttoxeter, Warrington and West Didsbury. Check the website for specific details of when and where each market takes place.

The stalls at each market vary, but you can always be sure to find delicious sweet treats and street food as well as the work of the best local arts and crafts people. Buying local and supporting those within your own community, is a great way to treat yourself and indulge in a bit of retail therapy without contributing to the ever consuming sprawl of late capitalism that we find on our high streets. Knowing that what you’re giving away to someone else is truly unique, can also give gifts that added touch of poignancy.

a palpable buzz about the place as you peruse through the stalls

If the awesome produce, products and pastries aren’t enough to tempt you, Makers Markets are well known for encouraging communities to come together. There is a palpable buzz about the place as you peruse through the stalls of people keen to share their passion for whatever’s on sale. It feels like a warm and welcoming community event which juxtaposes with your typical solo mission shopping trip.
