Metquarter

The enormous former General Post Office building wedged between Victoria Street and Whitechapel in Liverpool was converted into the Metquarter shopping centre in 2006. Once a four-storey block built in the style of a French chateau, it’s now home to around 40 high-end shops such as All Saints, Diesel and Kurt Geiger. Its sculptured entrance and much of its original fontage survived the Blitz bombs and creates an elegant shopping centre unlikely otherwise to have been built.
