Love Lane Brewery sits in a very large building down a side street in the Baltic Triangle and despite its size, it’s not a flashy place. Rather, if you’ve been before you’ll bring your friends – the good food and excellent beer selection ensures that you do, indeed, come back.

Having gone through refurbishment in recent years, it’s now open and welcoming visitors in all its glory. Love Lane Brewery is, as the name suggests a pub, a brewery and a gin distillery all in one place. The pub area is more bar-like, with a clean, industrial interior, heaps of space and high ceilings. It’s spacious but not cold – during quieter times, there is a calm to Love Lane that is much appreciated, away from the city centre where queues to well-known brunch spots are not an unusual sight.

The menu is filled with pub classics done well, with a hint of luxury. In short, the food is lovely and will not leave you hungry. Top it off with one of their delicious beers and you’ll have the makings of a great evening or afternoon meal.

The main space looks out onto the brewery/ distillery side of the building, with glass walls that allow you to peek at the shiny silver machinery. Choose from the Love Lane and Higsons Brewery and Turncoat Gin Distillery. Both tours last about an hour, include tastings, behind-the-scenes access and a drink on arrival, or before you leave. You don’t have to be a devotee of either brand of drink to enjoy these – taking in the atmosphere and enjoying the tastings is a great way to experience the tour. They’re reasonably priced too so if you’re coming to visit Liverpool and need activity ideas, this is a good one.

Love Lane Brewery is a few minutes’ walk from the city centre and close to many hotels (very close to the Baltic Hotel) so add it to your pub-crawl list for your next Liverpool visit.
