Lotherton Hall and Estate
Creative Tourist
Discover Lotherton, a country estate, historic hall and Wildlife World Zoo.
The Edwardian estate is a truly great place for a family day out – with plenty to keep little kids (and their grown-ups) entertained. The expansive grounds and gardens are lovely walking spots, with or without four-legged companions. Each season brings new surprises including wild garlic in the spring, a sea of colourful blooms in summer in the formal gardens and stunning autumnal colours later on in the year.
You’ll find two children’s playgrounds – perfect for running free and letting off steam, and zip wires for bigger kids to enjoy. There’s also an on-site zoo, Wildlife World, where you can marvel at the Humboldt penguins, the resident porcupines, Arthur the tapir and a flamboyance of pink flamingos.
Be sure to step inside the former home of the Gascoigne family to find out more about the history of the estate. A fascinating collection of artworks and objects fill each room and tell the story of its former residents and the community around them. The Museum is also home to an annually-changing exhibition on the first floor which links the estate to wider themes and exciting discoveries.
Rest, refuel and watch the world go by in the Stables café, where you can take your pick from a range of lunch options, cakes and ice creams.
