Consistently ranked among the top chippies in Blackpool, Lily’s Fish and Chips is a traditional spot that’s tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the prom, and yet only a stone’s throw away.

Many a local’s favourite, this place has the lot. Both a takeaway and a restaurant, they use fresh, high-quality ingredients to craft some of the best chippy fare in town, and at a very reasonable price point. They also rightly pride themselves on their customer service, the staff courteous in that down-to-earth Northern way – nothing forced, just cheery conversation and helpful guidance about your order.

And that’s useful, because there’s a lot to choose from here. As well as the usual cod, plaice and scampi (all coated with a feather-light, crispy batter), you’ll find lovingly homemade pies, sandwiches, sirloin and gammon steaks as well as a few healthier options like grilled seabass and various salads.

Opening at 11am – slightly earlier than the standard 11.30am of most chippies in Blackpool – they’ve also got breakfast covered with a range of barms and even a full English, which you can in fact order all day. They also do children’s portions, and take care of those with a gluten allergy courtesy of a separate gluten-free fryer (the batter is also dairy free, if that’s an issue).

Set in a handsome building with a Tudor-style façade (indeed the shop used to be called Tudor back in the day), Lily’s is well worth a visit on your next jaunt in Blackpool.

Winter brings a huge haul of seasonal shows, as well as productions that resolutely veer away from the fairy lights.
