A year of lockdown restrictions saw many food-lovers in Manchester switch to kit meals and delivery options to fill the gap. Taking this a step further, new food delivery app Foodie Food has launched, focusing on hand-stretched Neapolitan-style pizzas and high-end burgers, delivered straight to your door.

Using it is as simple as it gets. Simply install the app or go to the website (link below), place your order and sit back and wait for it to arrive. You can order using one of the major delivery companies but naturally, we recommend supporting a homegrown Manchester start-up, rather than line the pockets of problematic corporate chains. Plus, ordering direct means you’ll get access to special offers, and 10% of revenue from orders made direct goes to the local foodbank.

The Neapolitan-style pizzas are as good as any you’d find on the high street

This is all well and good but the main question is how’s the food? We’re pleased to say it’s very good indeed. The burgers come in a nicely designed fold-out box, containing a sky-high quality burger. The double cheeseburger is an impressive choice, consisting of no less than four smashed beef patties, a soft brioche bun and whatever toppings and sauces you desire. There’s also a very good chicken burger, made with a thick slab of high-grace chicken breast, and a vegan burger made with Beyond Meat smash patties.

The Neapolitan-style pizzas are as good as any you’d find on the high street, made with hand-stretched dough full of delicious dark bits, with a thin base that ends with a chunky crust. All the classic toppings are there, including a truly superb goats cheese option with green pesto and fresh basil, and the mighty ‘NDuja Foodie which consists of spicy ‘NDuja sausage, mozzarella, pepperoni and red onion. However, the BBQ is a must-try, with a smokey BBQ base rather than tomatoes, plus mozzarella, BBQ chicken, peppers and red onion.

The sides are excellent too, ranging from thick, salty halloumi fries to hot Jalapeno poppers, or if you’re a chicken fan you can choose between BBQ wings or buffalo wings, both coated with toppings and sauces. All made at Foodie Food’s city centre kitchen, it’s clear plenty of time and effort has gone into perfecting the dishes.
