Part of The University of Sheffield, the Drama Studio is an intimate theatre venue with stalls and circle seating over two floors. In addition to the 200 seat theatre, the first class venue houses two rehearsal studios and a host of production facilities.

The Drama Studio has been at the heart of the performance arts community – both for the university and the local area – for over four decades. Offering the most varied programme of contemporary work, drama, dance and music, over 40 performances take place here each year.

Housed in the former Glossop Road Baptist Church, the studio is a sensitive conversion that still retains many of the building’s original features. The Grade II building was converted into a theatre in 1970 and is a unique, inspiring and atmospheric space.

A flexible performance space with a fully retractable seating unit, the Studio is well suited to small-scale theatre productions, but can also accommodate larger-scale gatherings, conferences and exhibitions too. In addition to the main auditorium, the Drama Studio offers three impressive rehearsal studios that can accommodate between 30 and 80 people.

The Drama Studio Sheffield is also proud home to the twice-yearly Enable US Festival, a fabulous festival of debate, expression and development. The festival stands to give cutting-edge artists and emerging companies a platform to showcase their work in Sheffield.
