Cona Restaurant
Ian Jones, Food and Drink EditorLocated a little to the east of Bradford’s famous City Park, Cona is a stylish modern restaurant, specialising in particularly high-quality cuts of steak renowned around the world, such as Halal Wagyu Beef from Japan and Australia. Cona is in fact a Halal steak restaurant. They also stock Salt Aged Dexter from Cumbria, and Halal USDA Prime from Nebraska. This is top-drawer meat, for the real connoisseur, and Cona makes an excellent venue for anniversary dinners and corporate hospitality.
The space is understated and simple, with low lamps and ebony furniture, focussing the visitor on the flavour of the meat. Simplicity and restraint are also key to the changing seasonal menu. The sample menu includes, among the starters, a USDA Prime Short Rib and Bao Buns for two, Salt Marsh Lamb Chops, and Lobster Ravioli. There’s also ‘CFC’, Cona’s own version of Fried Chicken.

Mains include, of course, steaks. Amongst many others, there’s the Japanese Pure Bred Wagyu A5, the Wagyu Sirloin, Marble Score 9+, aged for 32 Days, and a Dexter Porterhouse, Salt Aged for 38 Days. You can get other dishes too, of course – there’s a Corn Fed Chicken with truffle, and asparagus, a Wagyu Cheese Burger, and a King Prawn Spaghetti. Desserts include a chocolate fondant and salted caramel ice cream, and a lemon posset with fruit compote.
Cona also operates as a butcher shop. You can order Waygu strips and sirloins as well as hand-crafted Beef Wellingtons to cook at home.
Nearby, you’ll find the Bradford Cineworld, making Cona a great place to drop in before or after catching a movie. There’s also the City Park, with its famous Mirror Pool, the largest water feature in the UK. The restaurant is equidistant from Forster Square and Interchange Stations, making it convenient for guests from north or south.
