Clayton Hotel
Demi Sheridan, Editorial AssistantIf, like me, you choose your hotel based on its proximity to the madness then we might have found a winner here. I like to be close enough to city chaos to feel involved, but not so close that I am actually involved. The Clayton Hotel is set a neat 11 minute walk out of the major shopping, restaurant and bar centre of Leeds. Which means you are basically there but also not. It’s perfect.
Located on Sweet Street (adorable name for a street), you can choose to stroll towards the shops or the local attractions nearby. Are you a war history fan? If so, the Royal Armouries Museum would be a lovely day out, as it sits on the side of the River Aire. If war is not your thing, maybe theatre is. But you are still in luck, Leeds Grand Theatre is just an 18 minute walk from the hotel’s front door.
The Clayton hotel is big. 334 spacious guest rooms, all containing ‘dive into bed’ duvets. I just love those. Each room has its own king sized bed, power shower, flat screen TV and complimentary WiFi. Pretty much everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are three different room types to choose from; the Standard, the Deluxe and the Executive. With the extra space and sleeping options, The Clayton is a good place to bring the family.
Dining onsite has also been made easy here. With the newly refurbished Inkwell bar providing classically British food and drink, morning noon and night. It would be a shame to skip it. The staple dishes are the Giant Yorkshire pudding roast – Yum – or a national favourite, Beer Battered fish and chips. Food is served throughout the restaurant, you can even choose your vibe. Looking for a lively, social atmosphere? Hang out in the main bar. Or do you prefer something more intimate and quiet? Go chill in The Library (the section of the bar which is Library themed, I’ll be in there).
The Clayton Hotel is a cut above the standard hotel, with classy décor and modern fittings. It’s ideal for children, with a laid-back restaurant, well-kitted-out rooms and an eye-catching library-style lounge area.
