Chancellors Hotel

Demi Sheridan, Editorial Assistant
Chancellors Hotel is a Grade II listed Victorian mansion located in South Manchester surrounded by five acres of beautiful landscaped gardens, in a relaxed, scenic and picturesque setting.

Tucked away behind the greenery in Fallowfield, you would probably not expect a multi- arced venue to be hidden behind the trees. But it is there. The University of Manchester’s own Chancellors Hotel, a stunning Grade II listing building. I swear it looks like someone took the mansion straight out of that film – About Time – and plonked it in Manchester. Watch it, you will know what I mean.

It is funny to think there is an area of tranquillity amidst lush gardens just beyond Platt Fields Park and the Knowledge Quarter. The Chancellors Hotel sits within 5 acres of landscaped grounds. It gives country house energy.

There are 72 guest rooms housed in the Hotel’s east wing. Despite the classic, ‘back in the day England’ appearance, every room has a contemporary design. Each slightly different from the last. With a beautiful blend of colours and modern day features. For example the floor to ceiling curtains that just yell luxury (for some reason, we’re not sure why). The padded headboards and the soft lighting just make the room feel cosy, becoming a place you can really relax in.

The amenities included in your stay also blend quite nicely with this classic but luxury feel. The daily housekeeping, room service, complimentary tea and coffee in the rooms and the Conservatory bar & lounge. While this is a hotel, it is also a venue which you can book out for just about anything. The hotel contains a conference centre, a business centre, 9 meeting rooms, a terrace and of course the garden.

Every part of the venue’s interior screams modern day but the traditional elegant ambience the Victorian mansion exudes, as well as the woodland-esque scenery, makes it the perfect place for weddings and special events.

But of course, you don’t have to be getting married, part of a special event or even a meeting. If you do stay here, make good use of the dining options. The on-site British cuisine restaurant looks out onto the charming garden and terrace. The Carriage Restaurant, taking your British dish favourites and adding that little something extra.
