Bombay Stores is the largest Asian department store in Great Britain. As importers of fine fabrics, footwear, jewellery, stage decorations and so much more, they pride themselves on being the one stop shop for Asian culture in the north.

The go to department store for all occasions

The story of Bombay Stores is a classic zero to hero triumph. Having arrived in the UK in 1957 with only £50, Abdul Kader worked hard serving the community in Bradford for over twenty years. Alongside his wife Maryam Kader, Abdul built Bombay Stores from the ground up, through hard work and long hours. Today the shop is still managed by his daughter Sabra Kader and her sons. Although the business is on a much larger scale, it still has the warmth and welcome you would expect of a family run shop.

As a fashion house their collections are ever changing. As well as promoting domestic designers and new fashions coming out of London, they bring international design to the North with clothing travelling from as far as Karachi and Nairobi, Kenya to reach the store. In addition to everyday fashion, Bombay Stores regularly exhibits bridal fashions. They’ve previously taken clothes to Asiana Couture catwalks in London and appearing in some of the country’s largest Asian wedding fairs, so you can be sure to find on trend garments and fabrics.

As well as being the go to department store for all occasions, the shop has been known to host famous stars. Big names from the worlds of Bollywood and Bhangra such as Anjuman, Omar Borkan Al Gala and Nafees have all been known to shop there as well as regularly meet and greet fans.

Whether you’re looking for household goods, the perfect sari for the right occasion or to grab a tasty lunch at the in-house Biryani Hut, Bombay Stores is a cornucopia of south asian culture under one roof.
