Forming the perfect backdrop to Blackpool’s famous Pleasure Beach amusement park, this hotel’s polished blue facade makes it something of a standout on the seafront. Situated right next to the iconic theme park, its prominent location – combined with the fact that this is where the Strictly Come Dancing stars stay when they visit Blackpool – makes it a very popular choice indeed.

Combining clean, modern interiors with plenty of mod-cons and various hues of its signature colour splashed throughout, all 157 bedrooms embrace a nautical theme using a mixture of luxurious fabrics handpicked from the Designer’s Guild. Alongside standard doubles and singles, you can also book deluxe rooms, family rooms with bunk beds, and more upmarket suites that promise guests a picturesque park view.

The priciest rooms are the adults-only Deluxe Park View Suites, costing around £180-225 per night. These come with complimentary wine on arrival and are situated on the top floor of the hotel with their own Juliet balcony. Each contains a separate bedroom and lounge area with contemporary suede furniture, a fireplace and 46” TV, luxurious king sized bed and plenty of storage space – perfect for those who don’t travel so lightly.

Day tickets to Blackpool Pleasure Beach can be added to bookings for free with Thursday, Friday and Sunday night stays, and the hotel also has a long list of ‘extras’ that guests can purchase to enhance their trip. These range from the family-oriented (think children’s fun packs, Big Blue Hotel and Pleasure Beach teddy bears) to the more romantic, with options to add a dozen red roses into your room, or have a half bottle of Champagne chilling on ice on arrival.

The hotel’s Blues Bar & Brasserie, meanwhile, gives guests the opportunity to dine in style without ever leaving the hotel. Serving up a range of tasty homemade dishes from its large European-inspired menu, the restaurant prides itself on only cooking with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

Adults can opt to indulge in the Chef’s three course table d’hote dinner menu or pick what they please from the a la carte, bar and specials menus, while little ones can either create their own fresh pizzas from scratch or dine from a dedicated children’s list. The Big Blue Hotel also has a sizeable room service menu, ideal for those who find they simply don’t want to get out of bed.
