We all know vinyl is going through something of a renaissance, or perhaps it just never went out of fashion. Either way, as more people become collectors and connoisseurs,  there is a growing number of vinyl shops or that’s what’s been happening in Liverpool anyway.

81 Renshaw is a record store that stocks both new and second-hand vinyl. It’s located on Renshaw Street, not far from Liverpool Lime Street station for anybody travelling to the city specifically for the purpose of buying records. There is a broad range of styles and genres on offer: from absolute bargains begging for a browse to rare releases and collectible editions. As well as vintage records, 81 Renshaw stock all of the week’s big releases so you can grab the newest, freshest music there too.

The interior is bright and airy space with exposed brick walls and friendly staff who are always happy to help or advise if you’re new to the world of vinyl. For a while, it operated as a live venue too, but the pandemic made that difficult so 81 Renshaw went back to selling records. The location itself has a long music-related history – it was previously a record store in the 70s and before that, the heart of Merseybeat Magazine in the 60s.

Today, it’s continuing the musical legacy but fit for the modern world: there is an online 81 Renshaw shop too if you can’t get to the venue itself.
