Wes Anderson Double Bill at Chapeltown Picture House
Tom Grieve, Cinema EditorCult comedy director Wes Anderson has long been obsessed with families and pseudo-families of misfits and miscreants; with flawed characters seeking structure and belonging in some of the most dysfunctional organisations imaginable.
That’s certainly the case inthe two films showing as part of Chapeltown Picture House’s Wes Anderson Double Bill this September, as the best miniature cinema in Manchester presents The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic.
Two of the director’s most poignant comedies, these early aughts classics feature everything fans want and expect from the cult favourite director, including meticulous production design, impeccably curated soundtracks, divine ensembles plucked from his stock company, and of course, that trademark, deadpan humour.
