Vernon Mill Artists Studios Celebrating 25 Years at Vernon Mill Artist Studios, Stockport 13 — 15 September 2024 Entrance is free — Visit now

Join in the celebrations at Vernon Mill‘s 25th anniversary! The artist studios open their doors to the public for a whole weekend in September and invite you to take part in the fun.

You’ll have a chance to learn more about the history and heritage of the building, and the organisation itself, which from the start has supported a thriving artist community. The former cotton mill still bears traces of its historical use, with worn stone steps, marks from the cotton machines on the floor and old pipes to keep the atmosphere moist to stop the cotton from breaking.

Bringing things back to today, Friday is Preview Night in the artists’ studios accompanied by a live DJ of soul and blues. Saturday and Sunday the open studios continue allowing audiences to pop in, take a look around and have a chat with the artists. You’ll have a chance to make your own animal wire sculpture, or take home a five minute portrait. For those Instagram moments, there is a  Lowry Selfie Board too.

For families there is Children’s House from 12-1pm on Saturday. The rest of the weekend will bring choir singing, fascinating talks and poetry performances.
