Universal Bridge at Cross Lane Projects is a new exhibition by Lee Holden, winner of the Mark Tanner Sculpture Award 2022/23.

Holden’s interest lies in technology and this is apparent in his use of materials and the aesthetic of the exhibition. He explores “mindset” technology, infrastructure of governance, and perhaps most interestingly, the potential consequences of resistance to enforced technological change.

He uses found objects, collected elements as well as custom made or sources tools to create the installation. The resulting atmosphere is that of a military research station dedicated to covert activity. Universal Bridge tackles a number of themes, from privacy to the role of authority and its critique.

‘Universal Bridge’ tours the UK, as part of the MTSA’s National Touring Programme which began at Standpoint Gallery in May 2023.
