UK Premiere/ Tempo + Q&A at HOME
Tom Grieve, Cinema EditorTempo takes us to the O Courel mountain range in north west Spain, where 340 million years ago two continental plates collided, creating Galacia. The landscape is breathtaking, a unique area of cultural and geological heritage subject to international interest. But today it is under threat from neglect, opencast mining, plundering of the forest and emigration and there hasn’t been a child born in the district for 30 years, until now. Tempo begins with the birth of a baby girl and follows her first year, examining the fractious relationship between land, humanity and nature over the course of time.
Premiering in the UK at HOME as part of this year’s ¡Viva! Spanish & Latin American Festival, Tempo will be accompanied by a Q&A with director, Manuel Valcárcel.
