Something’s in the air in Stockport. Granted, the ‘new Berlin’, which it’s been dubbed recently, might be a bit of a stretch. But have no doubt, this Greater Manchester town is on a meteoric rise, and there’s so much of interest to see here – past and present.

Join Jonathan Schofield Tours and explore the great stories and stunning architecture of this sandstone town.

From obvious architectural highlights like the Art Deco Stockport Plaza to hidden gems you may never have noticed, you’ll walk up and down and all around Stockport, learning about its many standout buildings. An interior visit comes with one of the stops, and while we’ll not spoil any surprises, it really is something to see.

In the architecturally striking old town, it’s the DIY, grassroots activity in food, fashion, art and music that’s getting a lot of attention at the moment. But behind all this lie some lesser known stories of lively characters that populate the town’s past and present. All will be revealed as your experienced and knowledgeable tour guide leads you through Stockport’s up-and-down topography, illuminating tales around every corner.

There are fine buildings to see, there is music to listen to, tragedies to weep over, and plenty of moments of fun and daftness. If you think you know Stockport town centre, think again.
