Raw Milk online
Sarah-Clare Conlon, Literature EditorWith the support of Manchester Independents, Kate Feld is completing a text and photography pamphlet. This project is a chronicle of the writer’s experiences during the winter of 2020-21 as, with her daughters, she negotiates trauma, isolation and transition in the sealed container of domestic space. In Raw Milk, Feld reflects on the bankrupt promise of her progressive childhood in 1970s America, responds to the murder of Sarah Everard and its aftermath, and addresses the urgent need to equip her pre-adolescent daughters for their own struggle.
Raw Milk documents a single mother’s lived experience of the structural inequalities laid bare by the pandemic and offers a harrowing case study of how capitalism fails women.
