Portico Quartet at the RNCM
Chris HorkanFollowing their sold out appearance at Manchester International Festival this summer, Portico Quartet return to action for their first RNCM visit in five years.
The Mercury Prize-nominated group have progressed musically since their 2007 debut to incorporate electronic, ambient and minimalist music, as well as jazz. Having spent a brief spell as Portico, a trio, they have now returned to the original name and number for their recently released album, Art In The Age Of Automation.
With nods to post-rock and an ear for a classic pop hook, they are a compelling prospect – and justifiably regarded as one of the best live acts in the country.
