Open Day at The Lowry

The Lowry

Open Day at The Lowry, Salford 5 August 2017 Entrance is free

Learn from the best in the business and adventure around the magnificent waterside Lowry building from top to bottom as it throws open its backstage life in a total building takeover.

Whether you prefer being centrestage, behind the scenes or are just a little curious as to how it all works, this is a day of dreams with the opportunity to take part in dance workshops with leading companies Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and Rambert and choral workshops with Opera North. The impressive list of opportunities continues with creative sessions in art, stage combat, beatboxing, physical theatre and stand-up comedy.

For those more interested in the inner workings of a theatre, try your hand at lighting, sound and stage make-up and take part in in-depth backstage tours to explore the life of this leading cultural venue further. Look out for LS Lowry archive pop-ups across the day for the chance to learn more about the artist and see photographs, letters and some of his painting tools.

Be wowed by Lost In Translation’s spectacular outdoor show Cirque Bordello and grab some grub at the makers market with artisan food and drink.

We love that this day is bursting at the seams with  creative pursuits and opportunities to really see the inner cogs and talent that creates the outer magic that audiences experience from live performance, music and the visual arts at this world-class arts centre. It’s also our favourite time of year to take a stroll around The Quays.
