Northern Ballet: Leeds Playhouse Season at Leeds Playhouse, Leeds 21 — 24 October 2020 Tickets from £14.00 — Book now

Northern Ballet return to the Leeds Playhouse stage with three exciting and varied live programmes of work: Iconic Classics, A Celebration of Artistic Director David Nixon OBE and Contemporary Cuts. These are Northern Ballet’s first live performances since the initiation of lockdown in March.

The first live performances in over seven months, all pieces will be costumed but presented in a black box style theatre set-up; Iconic Classics and A Celebration to David Nixon OBE will be danced to a live musical score played by the Northern Ballet Sinfonia.

A stunning homage to traditional balletic works, Iconic Classics will feature excerpts from Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Le Corsaire and Giselle.

Celebrating 20 years of Artistic Director David Nixon, will showcase some of his most revered creations including extracts from The Great Gatsby, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Little Mermaid.

Contemporary Cuts is the final performance in this mixed programme and offers a series of short dance pieces from both established and emerging choreographers. The performance will feature new work from Kenneth Tindall, a captivating pas de deux from 1984, an excerpt from Cathy Marston’s Jane Eyre and Demis Volpi’s Little Monsters, which is set to music by Elvis Presley.

Set over three evenings, with a different offering on each night, each performance offers a beautiful insight into the talent and versatility of this outstanding company.
