Mothers Who Make: October 2020 at HOME Manchester, Manchester 21 October 2020 — 28 February 2021 Entrance is free — Visit now

Mothers Who Make (MWM) is a peer support group and creative exchange session for mothers who are artists – professional and/or passionate – writers, painters, actors, dancers, filmmakers, photographer. Every kind of maker is welcome, and every kind of mother. The group meet at HOME on a monthly basis.

The challenges faced by artists and families at the moment are more real than they have ever been before. This is a space to share in those very specific problems and have a group listen, who fully understand the reality of trying to maintain a creative career whilst looking after and providing for children.

The sessions, which have gathered momentum over the past few years, aim to give creative mothers the chance to explore their practice in a room with their child. Professional connections have been formed and led to the beginning of joint projects between participants – so it’s a great way to meet and collaborate with other mothers from different creative backgrounds.

Children are welcome to come to the sessions and often get as much out of them through meeting other children as the mothers do. During and post Covid 19 the Mothers Who Make has, and will, be needed more than ever as creatives navigate their roles in this evolving world of change and uncertainty, but also possibility.
