Modern Twist at Manchester Craft & Design Centre
Creative TouristFor his first ever solo collection, Manchester Craft & Design Centre’s 2016 MMU Graduate Award winner Joshua Till presents a collection of steam bent furniture – recouping an ancient technique with elegant results. Steam bending of wood was once a crucial technique for the production of weapons and tools, as well as objects including violins and lacrosse sticks; surpassed by technological advantages, this economical and ecological practice has been adopted by Till to create modern, minimalist pieces from beech and ash with little waste, and without the use of glue.
