MIF17: One of Two Stories, or Both at Old Granada Studios, Castlefield 30 June — 4 July 2017 Entrance is free

Opening with the first ever MIF live radio broadcast from Old Granada Studios, this major new work from Samson Young, currently representing Hong Kong at the Venice Biennale showcases the stories of 17th century Chinese travellers to Europe.

Following the radio series, a multi-channel sound and visual installation will premiere at the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art. The installation will bring another perspective to the stories, while also marking the 20th anniversary of the United Kingdom’s handover of Hong Kong to China. This multi-channel sound and video installation from the winner of the inaugural BMW Art Journey Award explores how journeys last in the memory and are given meaning by the stories used to describe them. The installation will remain at CFCCA until 29 October.
