Michael Rosen’s Chocolate Cake at Waterside, Manchester 30 — 31 May 2018 Tickets from £9.00 — Book now

We are excited to experience the thrill of Michael Rosen’s Chocolate Cake poem brought to life in a new musical stage adaptation this half-term at Waterside.

When I was a boy, I had a favourite treat. It was when my mum made…Chocolate Cake!”

Aimed at ages four and above follow the story of Michael whose love of cake knows no bounds. The excitement is definitely in bearing witness to him doing all the the things he and you know are DEFINITELY forbidden.

We are sure there will be lots of little hands over mouths and eyes wide open as Michael tip-toes past his mum and dad’s bedroom, over creaky floorboards and bits of lego in the dead of night to the kitchen where an entire chocolate cake mysteriously disappears.

At 50 minutes without an interval, it’s the perfect length for little theatregoers. Expect brilliant music, a talented cast and inventive set.

Produced by Polka Theatre (whose mission is to produce world-class theatre for young audiences), and adapted by Peter Glanville and Barb Jungr (the teams behind We’re Going On A Bear Hunt and GORILLA) we’re in safe hands for the sweetest (and funniest) of theatrical treats this May.

A brand new Chocolate Cake picture book is also out this May, adding to Rosen’s incredible bibliography which includes much-loved favourites Uncle Gobb And The Dread Shed, Fluff The Farting Fish, Michael Rosen’s Big Book of Bad Things and Little Rabbit Foo Foo.
