We’re thrilled that New Adventures and Matthew Bourne are returning to The Lowry this November with their dazzling reimagining of the classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty.

Stylish and supernatural, the production first premiered in 2012 at Sadlers Wells and was the fastest selling production in the company’s history. Now the show celebrates its 10-year anniversary and Sleeping Beauty reawakens for 2022.

The timeless tale of Sleeping Beauty receives a heady dose of Gothic glamour.

Elaborate and super inventive, Bourne has incorporated a wonderfully vampiric element into the original tale. The story is built around the romance between Princess Aurora and the palace gamekeeper, Leo; when Princess Aurora pricks her finger and falls into a hundred years of sleep, her true love needs to find a way to be around in a century’s time when she wakes up. Cue the vampires and you’ve got a love story that even the passage of time cannot hinder.
