Fresh off the back of their sell-out success of A Christmas Carol, Manchester School of Theatre (Manchester Metropolitan University) are back with a bumper spring season of performance.

This exciting programme launches with a wonderfully wild and waggish version of the Shakespearean classic, As You Like It. In a bid to escape her evil uncle, Rosalind seeks shelter in the wilderness of Arden, where she happens to fall in love. The only problem? She’s disguised herself as a boy… This is William Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy about finding love in a forest. Directed by Emily Raymond, this brilliant production runs in the Grosvenor East building from 6 – 8 March.

In perfect contrast, Caryl Churchill’s contemporary drama, Love and Information, runs from 3 – 5 April. Intriguing and unsettling, this mind-bending masterpiece explores the complex relationship between humans and information, technology and our capacity for connection, in the modern world. Featuring over 100 characters and 52 scenes, we can’t wait to see what director Nickie Miles Wildin has in store.

The Manchester School of Theatre’s spring season concludes with Henrik Ibsen’s explosive Hedda Gabler from 1 – 3 May. Hedda is only just married but bored already. Longing to be free, this is an unapologetic study into female rage – a woman so unhappy, she’ll set the world alight to watch it burn. Billed as “horrfying and grippinjg in equal measure”, Ibsen’s masterpiece is re-imagined for the 21st Century in this new version by Patrick Marber, directed by Seán Aydon.

The three productions are performed by students in their final year of the BA(Hons) in Acting at Manchester School of Theatre – take the opportunity to see some of MMU’s emerging talent.
