An evening of folk horror with Lucie McKnight Hardy & Andrew Michael Hurley at Blackwell’s Manchester, Manchester 24 October 2019 Entrance is free — Visit now

The Blackwell’s Manchester programme is back in full swing for the start of the academic year, with plenty of events (see the bookshop’s own website for a full line-up), including this special pre-All Hallows evening of folk horror.

Water Shall Refuse Them author Lucie McKnight Hardy will be talking about and reading from her debut, out on Northern Fiction Alliance indie press Dead Ink Books, and Costa Award-winner Andrew Michael Hurley will be giving audiences a peek at his third novel, Starve Acre, about spooky goings-on in deepest darkest Lancashire. They’ll be talking to author and John Rylands Library Writer-in-Residence Rosie Garland, herself not a stranger to a bit of gothic-inspired writing.

Find out about the Gothic Manchester Festival VII’s Rural Eerie event featuring Andrew Michael Hurley in our preview here and see our write-up of Writing Manchester Gothic with Rosie Garland here.
