Light Up Wakefield is part of the larger Light Up weekend which includes Nostell Fire Garden as well as the show Liz West: Our Colour Reflection at YSP.

Wakefield’s light festival is getting ready to delight audiences with a whole array of installations, projections and immersive experiences as well as craft activities and a Christmas Craft & Gift Market!

Highlights include The Ice is Melting at the Pøules II – the moving installation is a clear reference to the climate crisis, using  changing light projections through actual meltwater from the ice sheet in Greenland, Crude Oil from Texas and extract of endangered Blue Cornflower. Look out for lluminosThe Timekeepers and Sentinel – a large scale and immersive artwork, inspired by Wakefield’s coal mining history.

All this and lots more awaits, in this fantastic light trail!
