Liverpool has the Lambananas, Huddersfield had Sheep and Manchester had the Bees. This summer Leeds is being taken over by bears! In a large scale public art trail there are a number of bears roaming free in the city for you to find. The artwork, inspired by Michaels Rosen’s popular ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ is raising money for Leeds Children’s Hospital. You can find them in local buisnesses, the city centre and nearby parks. Each bear with a distinctive character and personality.

Leeds Hospitals Charity hopes to raise over £300,000 from the wild art trail for crucial projects at Leeds Children’s Hospital that help improve the lives of the inspiring young patients at the hospital receiving treatment and care. In the last year alone, Leeds Hospitals Charity has funded a vast array of projects at the hospital from ground-breaking research projects and innovative diagnostic technologies to specialist play staff and Christmas gifts. Most of the bears’ creation has been sponsored raising money for the charity and making the bear hunt an enjoyable experience for the city as well as a beneficial activity for others.

Every bear has been designed by a local or nationally recognised artist, as well as having input from the local community. They were developed in partnership with Wild in Art.

Exhibitions in the North

This season, exhibitions across the North West feel attuned to the world beneath the world – the forces and stories shaping how we see, feel and imagine.
