John Butcher at University of Huddersfield, Huddersfield 18 November 2019 Entrance is free

With Magnetic Bottle IV, experimental saxophonist John Butcher looks for new ways to alter the course of his saxophone, revealing its ‘hidden sounds’. In this new work, Butcher will put his instrument through the rigger of the Huddersfield Immersive Sound System, taking his solo playing and rebuilding it through the HISS’s 66 speakers, which will generate swathes of acoustic feedback. Butcher has rarely had the opportunity to use amplification live – this piece follows on from performances at Issue Project Room in Brooklyn and McGill University’s MMR system in Montreal.
