Following an acclaimed world premiere performance at Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona, HUMANHOOD Dance Company bring ∞ {Infinite}, a new dance piece to The Lowry.

This UK premiere is described as a “dance theatre meditation”, an entrancing blend of words and movement performed on stage by the company’s exceptional world-class dancers. Distinctive, hypnotic and thoughtful, ∞ {Infinite} invites its audience to meditate on their own internal power and celebrate the infinite possibilities of the future.

Distinctive, hypnotic and thoughtful

Presented as part of this year’s Birmingham International Dance Festival (BIDF), co-produced by Mercat de les Flors and receiving its UK premiere at The Lowry, ∞ {Infinite} by HUMANHOOD Dance Company will feature elements of positive mindset, wellness and mindfulness alongside dream-like dance and powerful tribal beats.

Founded in 2016 by Catalan and Birmingham born artists Júlia Robert and Rudi Cole, HUMANHOOD Dance Company have earned a sterling reputation in the UK and on international dance scenes. Previous award-winning works, Zero and Torus, have been performed in the UK and around the world. The company’s outdoor pieces, Orbis and Sphera, were presented as part of the Sadler’s Wells and BBC Arts’ acclaimed ‘Dancing Nation’ mini-series alongside celebrated artists like Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Rambert and Akram Khan.

HUMANHOOD Dance Company seek to raise human consciousness and empower human potential with their highly spiritual, and always thrilling, dance productions. Through their work – which is often inspired by physics, human consciousness and Eastern philosophies – Robert and Cole aim to create a unique and deeply engaging experience for the audience. Drawing on science and Eastern mysticism, ∞ {Infinite} is the company’s first production to blend stunning choreography with shamanic ritual.

Of ∞ {Infinite}, Artistic Directors of HUMANHOOD Júlia Robert and Rudi Cole said, “The time has come for us to break out of our shell and share with the world the fusion of our spiritual practice with our artistic voice. ∞ {Infinite} is the culmination of decades of metaphysical experiences around the world, and our vision to take audiences to a brand-new theatre experience. This is our first dance theatre meditation marking an exciting chapter in HUMANHOOD’s expansion. For us, the theatre is a modern-day temple, a place where the hearts and minds of many can come together as one, to allow new ideas to enter the imagination and challenge our thinking of the universe and ourselves as a part of it.”

A fascinating and enveloping performative blend of physics and ancient ideologies

Fluid and celebratory, ∞ {Infinite} sees the theatre auditorium transformed into a sacred space as the dancers become vessels for the creative process, bridging the link between spirituality and artistic expression. A fascinating and enveloping performative blend of physics and ancient ideologies, ∞ {Infinite} juxtaposes age-old tradition and civilisation with modern, electrifying choreography.

Audiences can expect to be guided through a powerful, mystical journey during HUMANHOOD Dance Company’s visionary 60-minute dance show. The performance will also be followed by a post-show talk by the company. So whether you’re a lover of groundbreaking contemporary dance or have an interest in meditation, energetic channeling, yoga, plant medicine and your own personal development, ∞ {Infinite} promises to be an extraordinary experience and a wholly-satisfying dance production.
