Illuminated Letter Workshop at the Pen Museum
Carmel Smickersgill, Tours & Activities EditorAt the Pen Museum they are embracing ancient Roman capital letters and metallic finishes with a workshop of illuminated letter drawing. Spend a relaxed day designing and decorating your own piece to take away. Seeing letters for their shapes and form is a great place for any keen artist or craftsperson to take inspiration. Remaining these all too familiar characters as objects of beauty can allow your creativity to really take the wheel.
You will be walked through the process of drawing your own historic, Roman capital letters and then given freedom to decorate it with imitation metals. All materials will be supplied, and the workshop is suitable for the complete beginner as well as the more experienced.
The Pen Museum’s gift shop is well stocked with calligraphy and illumination materials should you want to continue this fine art beyond the boundaries of the workshop.
Lunch is not provided, however, the Museum invites you to bring your own.
