Hidden Altrincham Festival 2017
Sara Jaspan, Exhibitions EditorThis year’s edition of Hidden Altrincham makes clear that the leafy Greater Manchester town is far from just a food lover’s paradise. It’s throbbing with creativity too, with plenty going on across the arts. The ten-day festival line-up of mostly free events, includes everything from dynamic group exhibitions and open studio days, to a mass life-drawing session, a psychogeographical dérive through the town, a poetry-slam and an intense, one-hour creative stand-off between six painters. There’ll also be plenty of talks, workshops, poetry readings, performances, unusual activities and other ‘spontaneous occurrences’ to take part in.
Spread across 30 unique locations, Hidden Altrincham is an opportunity to experience the town from another perspective: discovering new places and unusual venues, and encountering familiar ones afresh. Above all, however, it’s a celebration of creativity, with something for everyone to enjoy – from young families to seasoned art buffs alike – featuring work by 50 locally-based international and emerging artists.
