Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art presents My name is Harry, these are my pictures and they are nice, the first gallery exhibition of British photographer Harry Griffin.

Over the years, Griffin has made the most of his role as tour manager for some of the country’s favourite comedians (Joe Lycett, Phil Wang, Nina Conti, Philip Rosenthal and others) to capture the places and people around him. He has a knack for capturing candid moments between performances – people laughing, lounging or making faces at the camera.

In the exhibition, you’ll find 100s of images alongside a newly commissioned interview film between Harry Griffin and Joe Lycett where they share their touring experiences and favourite service stations, revealing a close friendship.

My name is Harry… gives us the opportunity to take a peek inside the comedy circuit’s inner workings, glimpsing the moments that are not usually meant for public consumption, with all of their humour, boredom and joy.
