Hamlet at Hope Mill Theatre
Kristy Stott, Theatre EditorFollowing the sell-out success of last years all-female production of Romeo and Juliet, GirlGang Manchester and Unseemly Women have come together, with the support of Arts Council England, to present Hamlet at Hope Mill Theatre.
“To thine own self be true.” A bereaved young Hamlet returns home from university to discover that not only is their father newly dead, but that their mother, Gertrude, has married their father’s brother, Claudius, and that Claudius is now King.
A cast of twelve of the North West’s most exciting female actors will be taking over Hope Mill Theatre with their retelling of one of Shakespeare’s most revered tragedies. Directed by Kayleigh Hawkins, this fresh reimagining of Hamlet promises to entertain and engage; teaming daring fight choreography by Kaitlin Howard, with superb acting, and a hefty punch of feminine charm.
